Here’s a recipe everyone should have in their back pocket. It’s a renowned 4-ingredient tomato sauce made famous by esteemed chef Marcella Hazan. It comes together in under an hour with almost no effort, and it shows that good cooking can be simple and stress-free. Try it; you’ll be blown away.
Basically you throw the ingredients shown below (that’s for a double recipe) in a pot, bring it to a simmer and leave it alone for 45 minutes or so. Maybe stir it a few times if you want to feel like you worked harder.
You’ll probably say, “Really, butter in a tomato sauce?” But it adds richness and lends a velvety texture that really works.
You might want to use this sauce in a lasagne, or just ladle it on some spaghetti with the meatballs your daughter Emma insisted upon. You’ll realize how right she was, but you probably won’t admit it.
